Convention News: PrairieCon XXXII – Brandon, Manitoba, Canada – June 3, 4, 5, 2011

That’s right – PrairieCon is back for its 32nd year! The Brandon, Manitoba gaming community encourages this festival of games to promote gaming in a friendly, non-competitive manner. Gamers can enjoy RPGs, board games, tournaments, and much more from 5pm Friday, June 3, to 5:30pm Sunday June 5, 2011. It’s held at the Brandon University Gymnasium on the southwest corner of 20th St. and Louise Ave.

PrairieCon has another great mix of events this year – card games, board games, miniatures, RPGs, tournaments, workshops, and some great social games like Are You A Werewolf? and Clay-o-Rama. There are games for all ages too, from kids to adults, so it’s definitely a family-friendly atmosphere.

The games and events list is widely diverse throughout the convention…

  • Card games such as Magic: The Gathering, Munchkin, and Killer Bunnies…
  • Board games like Axis & Allies, Civilization, Carcassonne, Duck! Duck! Go! and Wabbit Wampage…
  • Miniatures games such as Star Wars Minis, Battletech, and Warhammer 40k
  • Roleplaying Games such as Battlestar Galactica RPG, Pathfinder, Shadowrun, D&D 4e, Cyberpunk, and Call of Cthulhu…
  • Several tournaments, including Pandemic, D&D, Puerto Rico, and Twilight Imperium
  • Workshops on Gamemastering, Terrain Building, and Miniature Painting…
  • And much more!

The President of this year’s convention, Craig Dedrick, was kind enough to answer a few questions about his involvement this year and in previous years with PrairieCon a few weeks ago. (Check it out here.) It’s obvious that he, his team, and all the volunteers really care about keeping the community in the loop and introducing people young and old to the joy of gaming in all its forms…

So if you’re in the area, I’d definitely encourage you to check out PrairieCon XXXII the weekend of June 3, 4, and 5, 2011 in Brandon, Manitoba!
